AQ Studios’ Historic Renovation Studio lies at the intersection of the past and present. Our designs revitalize historic buildings, maximizing the qualities that make them unique and of their time while allowing for modern comfort, function, and use. We reimagine what a space can be, not based on what it looks like today or the program it held previously, but rather what it can be tomorrow and for years to come. Historic renovations breathe new life into buildings that were often long since forgotten or properly maintained. We believe architecture is a reflection of its time and place. Buildings should continue to evolve with society and its community without losing the richness of the history that they hold. It’s a balancing act we perform day in and day out.
As with many things, the Historic Renovation Studio doesn’t operate in a vacuum and it takes many parties to achieve the high-quality designs we, and our clients, expect. We consider ourselves the center spoke of a multi-pronged coalition that brings these projects to life, seamlessly working with each outside entity. Our projects often utilize historic state and federal tax credits to assist with funding and are in historic districts with additional jurisdictional requirements. AQ Studios is well-versed at navigating the requirements of these types of organizations in an efficient and expeditious manner. Additionally, we work closely with contractors to ensure that appropriate methods are being used for the historic materials that are the lifeblood of these buildings. What’s appropriate for modern materials is often not appropriate for their historic counterparts. We have the expertise to lead the team in the right direction.
