McNeese State University Student Union

The new McNeese State University Student Union was conceived as the heart of student life — a vibrant center for student connection and campus activity. Emerging from AQ Studios’ campus-wide master planning effort and extensive stakeholder workshops, the project responds directly to the evolving needs of students and the University community. Positioned prominently within the campus quad, the 52,000 SF facility creates a welcoming front door for campus life while reinforcing school pride through bold architectural expression and vibrant public spaces.

The Student Union integrates enhanced dining, flexible event space, and student-focused collaborative areas into a cohesive experience of connected environments. Movement through the building is intuitive and energized, shaped by transparency, light, and a strong relationship between the interior and exterior. The design prioritizes durability and timeless materials that reflect the architectural character of the University. The result is a campus hub that strengthens school identity and fosters student engagement.
