The new Public Safety Communications Center was designed to showcase the strength and stability of the infrastructure surrounding local crisis response. The design was laid out locating the most important structures at the center of the building surrounded by a protective ring of supporting spaces. Upon entering the structure, visitors are introduced to a large entry enclosed in glass and protected by a concrete wall, that denotes strength and resilience. AQ Studios was tasked with creating a building that emanated prominence while maintaining the resilience of a structure that will serve functionally as the epicenter of parish-wide crisis management.
The Challenge
Designing a facility that must remain operational during all types of emergencies presented unique challenges. The building needed to be both prominent and discreet—projecting authority and reliability without compromising on security. To address this, AQ Studios incorporated materials and construction techniques that ensure the building’s durability, including reinforced concrete and advanced glazing systems designed to resist impact and environmental stress.
Furthermore, the interior spaces were designed with flexibility in mind, allowing for quick reconfiguration to accommodate varying emergency scenarios. Redundant systems were integrated throughout the building to ensure that even in the event of a power failure or other disruptions, the center could continue to operate seamlessly.
