Lafayette High School
Lafayette, LA
Lafayette High School, the flagship campus of the Lafayette Parish School System, has entered a new chapter with the completion and occupancy of its new 313,000-square-foot facility, designed to serve approximately 2,300 students. Developed in response to evolving educational models, changing student needs, and long-standing physical limitations of the former campus, the project represents a major reinvestment in public education at the heart of Lafayette.
Following an extensive feasibility study led by AQ Studios, rebuilding on the existing campus was identified as the optimal solution—allowing the school to maintain its historic presence within the city while delivering a modern, future-ready learning environment. Through careful phasing and close coordination with the school system and the Construction Manager at Risk, the new facility was constructed while students remained on campus, avoiding the disruption and expense of temporary relocation.
Now fully occupied, the new Lafayette High School supports a comprehensive academic program that includes modern classrooms, a concert hall, career and technical education spaces—including shop and welding labs—health academy programs, and expanded athletic facilities. Flexible gathering spaces are distributed throughout the building to encourage collaboration, informal learning, and student interaction beyond the classroom, supporting both academic excellence and a strong sense of school community.
