Daughters of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Convent

This project reimagines a historic convent constructed in 1896 as a unified home for a Vietnamese-founded religious community long rooted in the region. Prior to renovation, the Sisters were dispersed across multiple facilities, limiting their ability to live, worship, and gather together. The project restores that sense of home—reuniting the community within a single, shared environment.

The design integrates historic preservation with thoughtful expansion, extending the architectural language of the existing structure to create a seamless whole while responding to site and regulatory constraints. The first floor prioritizes accessibility through ADA-compliant bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms, and shared living spaces, while upper levels support worship, work, and community life through an expanded chapel and additional program.

Resilient systems and infrastructure are discreetly incorporated, including upgraded mechanical systems, backup power, and concealed stormwater management. More than a renovation, the project restores a way of life—creating a place where the sisters can live, age, and remain together for generations.
